Section 81 Information
Description
Students are provided access to a variety of commercial electronic systems to perform patent analysis for various situations including licensing, sales, patenting decisions, infringement evaluation, competitive relationships with regard to patent portfolios, and the like. The course takes the students through all of the data analysis concerns with regard to international sources of patents, patent inter-relationships and patent families, types of errors frequently made through faulty assumptions in this area, impact of the analysis on valuation of intellectual assets, among others. The expectation is that the process of performing the operations and creating the final landscaping written reports will also be instructive in actual practice to reading, understanding, and questioning such reports.
