Sarah Fackrell

Professor, Co-Director, Program in Intellectual Property Law

Sarah Fackrell joined the Chicago-Kent College of Law faculty in fall 2024 as a professor of law. She previously taught at Suffolk University Law School and at the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

Professor Fackrell’s research focuses on the intersection between art, design, and intellectual property law. She is an internationally-recognized expert in design patent law. Her work has been published or is forthcoming in the Harvard Law Review, the Duke Law Journal, and the Ohio State Law Journal, among other places.

Prior to becoming a law professor, Professor Fackrell worked as an intellectual property litigation associate in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert W. Pratt in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.

Professor Fackrell earned her B.A in art and design and journalism and mass communication from Iowa State University and her J.D. from the University of Chicago. She is admitted to the bar in the Supreme Court of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
