Community and Access on Campus

Chicago-Kent works closely with student organizations and other departments to facilitate a variety of programs and events throughout the year to engage and support the internal and external community, including: supporting current students with tools and resources to be successful in law school and beyond; providing prospective students with exposure and access to law school and the legal profession; and providing education and services to the external community. A few examples include:

  • Pipeline programs for high school, community college, and four-year college students.
  • MLK Forum: Typically held during the week of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, this forum brings together community members (law students, lawyers, and non-lawyers) to discuss issues impacting Chicago-area residents, and to explore solutions.
  • Community Engagement Month: A month dedicated to programs and events, primarily organized by student organizations, to facilitate development opportunities to learn about the vast array of legal needs facing members of our surrounding communities, and to build skills to meet such needs. It is also a time to educate the Chicago-Kent community about the importance of expanding access to law school and the legal profession to those aspiring to join the profession.
  • Mentoring programs
  • Student organizations
  • Academic support and bar preparation programs

Additional services are provided through the Office of Access and Community Outreach and the Office of Student Affairs.
