Caroline Teichner and Bernhard Akwasi Müller to deliver student addresses at 2012 IIT Chicago-Kent Commencement ceremony May 13
IIT Chicago-Kent students Caroline Teichner and Bernhard Akwasi Müller will address their fellow graduates at the law school's 2012 Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 13, at 2:30 p.m at the UIC Forum, 725 West Roosevelt Rd., in Chicago.
Valedictorian Caroline Teichner will deliver the J.D. commencement address. Bernhard Akwasi Müller, a candidate for an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law, will deliver the graduate address. IIT Chicago-Kent will award 287 J.D. degrees and 109 LL.M degrees.
Caroline Teichner grew up in Chicago, where she graduated from Lincoln Park High School. In 2007, Teichner graduated with high honors from Princeton University with a bachelor of science in mechanical and aerospace engineering. At IIT Chicago-Kent, she was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society and the Chicago-Kent Law Review. Teichner received the 2011 Dolores K. Hanna Trademark Prize, awarded to a student based on outstanding performance in an intellectual property course. After graduation, she will join the intellectual property firm of McAndrews, Held & Malloy in Chicago.
Bernhard Akwasi Müller was born in Ghana and raised in Switzerland, where he is currently a captain in the Swiss army. Müller graduated magna cum laude from the University of Zurich. His research interests are in the areas of criminal law, criminal procedure, history of law and philosophy of law. Following graduation, Müller will begin an internship at a district court in Zurich in order to take the Swiss bar exam.
Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol of Thailand and Laurel G. Bellows, president-elect of the American Bar Association, will also address the graduates on May 13. Her Royal Highness and Bellows will also be awarded honorary doctorate of laws degrees in a separate ceremony on Saturday, May 12, at the Illinois Institute of Technology Commencement.
