Chicago-Kent Law Lab Leader Daniel M. Katz Gains National Acclaim
The director of the Law Lab at Illinois Tech’s Chicago-Kent College of Law has won recognition as a top leader in the field of data and analytics from a national publication dedicated to the topic.
Professor Daniel Martin Katz made Chief Data Officer Magazine’s 2021 list of “Leading Academic Data Leaders.”
“These outstanding academic professionals are leading the way with innovative ideas leveraging data and analytics. They are using their talents to provide true value and real world results,” the magazine said.
The list honors 100 academics from institutions around the globe.
Katz, who teaches numerous courses at Chicago-Kent dealing with the integration of law and technology, joined the college in 2015. His research interests include the law and entrepreneurship, law and artificial intelligence, and law and technology.
“We’re working to train students in the understanding and use of data and its relationship to the legal profession, and its impact on society,” Katz says. “There are a lot of law schools out there, but we’re one of the few that is linked to a technology school. That’s a distinct advantage for us.”
The Law Lab is a premier interdisciplinary teaching and research center focused on legal innovation and technology.
According to its website, CDO Magazine grew out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s annual CDO and Information Quality Symposium, and is led by the MIT Sloan School of Management in partnership with the International Society of Chief Data Officers.
