Chicago-Kent names its 2016 ABA National Appellate Advocacy Regional Competition teams

Two teams from Chicago-Kent College of Law at Illinois Tech will participate in the 2016 ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition's regional tournament March 3 to 5 in San Francisco.

Second-year student Caitlin Ajax and third-year student David Love will compete on one team. Second-year students Alex Halaska and Theresa Starck will comprise the other team.

Sponsored by the American Bar Association's Law Student Division, the competition emphasizes students' written and oral advocacy skills. The top four teams from six regional tournaments will advance to the national finals April 7 to 9 in Chicago. In 2014, the Chicago-Kent team of Koplan Nwabuoku '14 and Valerie Raedy '14 won the regional tournament in Las Vegas.

Chicago-Kent's Ilana Diamond Rovner Program in Appellate Advocacy, the umbrella program for many of the law school's moot court activities, was established in 1992. Since then, Chicago-Kent students have won numerous individual honors and regional and national competitions, including consecutive titles in the New York City Bar Association's National Moot Court Competition.
