IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law selects its teams for the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Midwest Regional Competition

IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law will defend its title in the 24th annual Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition's Midwest regional tournament February 7 in Chicago. Sarah Aagaard '14 and Benjamin Boroughf '14 won last year's regional championship and best brief award.

The top two teams in the Midwest tournament will join the top two teams from three other regions in the national finals to be held March 14 at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C.

Established in 1990 by the International Trademark Association, the competition is named for the late Saul Lefkowitz to honor his contributions to the development of trademark law and to the education of the trademark bar. Mr. Lefkowitz served as chairman of the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Approximately 80 law school teams participate in the annual tournament.

IIT Chicago-Kent will be represented in this year's tournament by two teams. Kenneth Matuszewski '16, David Mucci '15 and Elizabeth Zubiate '15 are the members of one team. The other team comprises Cole Garrett '15 and Adam Reis '15.

Team member Kenneth Matuszewski studied biological sciences and Spanish at the University of Notre Dame. Teammate David Mucci earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Florida. Teammate Elizabeth Zubiate graduated from the University of Texas in El Paso where she majored in
biology, English literature, and art history.

Team member Cole Garrett received a degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. Teammate Adam Reis completed his undergraduate education in chemistry at Miami University. 

The teams are coached by IIT Chicago-Kent alumna Ashly I. Boesche '04.
