IIT Chicago-Kent to compete in the 2013 South Texas Mock Trial Challenge
IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law will compete in the second annual South Texas Mock Trial Challenge held March 20 to 24 in Houston.
The competition, sponsored by South Texas College of Law, "is designed to showcase the best advocates from the nation's best advocacy programs." The tournament also honors the memory of Texas trial attorney John O'Quinn. Each four-member team will address a cutting-edge problem related to a legal challenge faced by the health care industry. Judges will evaluate both trial briefs and oral arguments.
Third-year students Amanda Bielinski and Patrick Ferrell and second-year students Robby Fakhouri and Gintare Radvila will represent IIT Chicago-Kent in the tournament. The team will be coached by IIT Chicago-Kent alumni Matthew Casey '09, Kelly Konzen '10, Katya Manak '10, Michelle Truesdale '04, and Brian Wojcicki '09, and attorney Lance Northcutt.
Team member Amanda Bielinski earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama with a major in mechanical engineering and a minor in mathematics. Teammate Robby Fakhouri graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University Chicago with a major in biology and a minor in anthropology. Teammate Patrick Ferrell is a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. Teammate Gintare Radvila graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana with a major in English and a minor in secondary education.
