IIT Chicago-Kent will send two teams to the Chicago Bar Association Moot Court Competition
Two teams from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law will participate in the Chicago Bar Association Young Lawyers Division's 30th annual Moot Court Competition November 15 to 17 at the Everett McKinley Dirksen U.S. Courthouse in Chicago. Third-year students John Darragh and Anne Schmidlin are on the first team. Richard Poskozim and Filip Zucek, also third-year students, comprise the second team.
The students will argue Indium International et al. v. Pineapple, Inc. et al., a hypothetical appeal to the United States Supreme Court. This international antitrust case examines both a jurisdictional issue and a pleading issue. The defendants are accused of conspiring to manipulate the price of indium, a mineral used in the production of electronic touchscreen devices. The jurisdictional issue is related to the Sherman Antitrust Act and the Foreign Trade Antitrust Improvements Act.
Team member John Darragh earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Teammate Anne Schmidlin is a graduate of the University of Dayton with a bachelor's degree in public relations and a minor in marketing.
Team member Richard Poskozim graduated from The Ohio State University with a major in journalism and a minor in political science. Teammate Filip Zucek completed his undergraduate education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a major in history and minors in international studies and German. Poskozim and Zucek won the third annual National Cultural Heritage Law Moot Court Competition earlier this year.
