Two IIT Chicago-Kent teams will go to the ABA Law Student National Representation in Mediation Regional Competition
IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law will compete in the American Bar Association's (ABA) Law Student National Representation in Mediation Regional Competition February 28 to March 1 at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama.
Sponsored by the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution, the competition is designed to acquaint law students with advocacy skills in alternative dispute resolution processes, specifically mediation. Winning teams in each of eight regional tournaments will compete in the national finals held during the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution conference April 15 to 18 in Miami.
Amber Lukowicz '16 and Rory Quinn '15 are on one IIT Chicago-Kent team. Jennie Balkas '16 and Kevin Doran '15 comprise the other team. The teams are coached by IIT Chicago-Kent alumni Kate Kosartes '14, Michael Barnes '14, Martha Drouet '14 and David McKenzie '14.
Team member Jennie Balkas graduated from the University of Iowa with a joint degree in economics and political science. Team member Kevin Doran studied journalism and Spanish at Indiana University.
Teammate Amber Lukowicz completed her undergraduate education in international business at the University of Denver. Rory Quinn earned a degree in law enforcement and justice administration from Western Illinois University.
