Two teams will represent Chicago-Kent in the AAJ Student Trial Advocacy Competition's 2016 regional tournament

Two teams from Chicago-Kent College of Law at Illinois Tech will compete in the regional tournament of the American Association for Justice's 2016 Student Trial Advocacy Competition March 10 to 13 in Chicago. The winning team will join the first-place teams from 13 other regions at the national finals March 31 to April 3 in New Orleans.

Sona Arora '17, Tracey Harkins '16, Lindsay Hicks '16 and Kendra Spearman '16 will compete on one team. The other Chicago-Kent team will comprise Bryce Hensley '17, Tyler Mikan '17, Daniel Sanders '17 and Michael Sherer '16. The women's team is coached by alumni Jessica Biagi '11, Jessica Velez '12 and Erik Wilson '12, while the men's team is coached by alumni Fariz Burhanuddin '14, Joseph Carlasare '12, Jon Neuleib '02, Emily Schroeder '15 and Marcell Taylor '12 and by Lindsey Goeders.

The competition is sponsored by the American Association for Justice (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America), a broad-based, international coalition of attorneys, law professors, paralegals and law students. Chicago-Kent most recently won the regional championship in 2014 and 2015.

Chicago-Kent's trial advocacy teams have won numerous individual student honors and regional and national competitions. In the most recent U.S. News & World Report graduate school rankings, Chicago-Kent's Trial Advocacy Program is ranked fourth in the country.
