J.D. Certificate Programs Fair.  For students interested in one or more of Chicago-Kent's certificate programs, there will be an informational session on Wednesday, March 20, 3:30-5:30 pm, in the first-floor lobby. This is an opportunity to learn about the certificate programs, meet faculty and students in the programs, and ask questions. There is no need to register. We currently have certificate programs in the following areas:

-Business Law
-Criminal Litigation 
-Environmental & Energy Law
-Intellectual Property Law
-International & Comparative Law
-Labor & Employment Law
-Legal Innovation + Technology
-Litigation & Alternative Dispute Resolution (LADR)

Trial Team Tryouts.  [From the Chicago-Kent Trial Team:] Are you interested in receiving individual instruction on trial skills, making invaluable career connections with practicing attorneys and judges, competing across the nation, and having tons of FUN? Join Chicago-Kent's nationally ranked Trial Team!

Who: Tryouts are open to 1L and 2L students, both evening and day division. 
When: Tryouts will be Wednesday, March 20th and Thursday March 21st from 4pm-9pm. You will sign up for ONE time slot on either the Wednesday or the Thursday. Callbacks will be held Friday, March 22nd during the evening, time TBD. Sign up to try out HERE!
Where: Tryouts will be held in person in the Marovitz and Kohen Courtrooms. Please fill out the Questionnaire available here and bring it with you to tryouts!

What: Prepare (for either side of the case): a 3-5 minute Opening Statement AND a 3-5 minute Closing Argument. You must also prepare a 10-15 question direct and cross for any witness you choose. If you would like to meet with a trial team member for some help before tryouts, please sign up on the attached sheet (trial team members will be adding times they are available in the next few days). Counseling Services. This is a reminder that the university provides counseling services free of charge for students. Click here for details on the available resources, including individual counseling through Skylight Counseling Services. In addition to resources available through the university, the Lawyers Assistance Program also provides assistance to law students. LAP provides free and confidential assistance to members of the Illinois legal community, and can help you with issues of addiction, stress, anxiety, depression, focusing, worries about the character and fitness process, and having a successful first-year transition. Click here for more information about LAP and its services.
