Chicago-Kent wins the Best Written Materials Award at the 2017 National Baseball Arbitration Competition

The Chicago-Kent team of Sean Fitzgerald '19, Daniel Haze '18 and Mark Reel '17 won the Best Written Materials Award at the 2017 National Baseball Arbitration Competition, held January 18 to 20 in New Orleans.

The competition, sponsored by Tulane Law School's Sports Law Society, is a simulated salary-arbitration competition modeled closely on the procedures used by Major League Baseball. Chicago-Kent's team was one of 35 law school teams participating in this year's tournament, which was judged by a wide range of MLB executives, attorneys and agents.

Team member Sean Fitzgerald graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology from Augustana College. Daniel Haze received a bachelor's degree in political science from Roosevelt University. Mark Reel earned a master's degree in sports administration from Valparaiso University and a bachelor's degree in sports marketing and management from Indiana University Bloomington.

Alumni Steve Gross '16 and Anthony Bonagura '16, who previously represented Chicago-Kent in the National Baseball Arbitration Competition, coached this year's team.
