  • By Kayla Molander

The fall 2025 edition of Chicago-Kent Magazine is now available online.

This edition features two alumni who are running intellectual property firms while creating employment opportunities for Chicago-Kent College of Law graduates.

Bob Surrette ’97 is president and shareholder at McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Ltd. The firm employs more than a dozen Chicago-Kent alumni, more than from any other law school. Surette has taught as an adjunct at Chicago-Kent and currently serves as the chair of the Chicago-Kent Board of Advisors and as a member of the Illinois Tech Board of Trustees.

Randy Micheletti ’09 is the founder of Incubate IP, where he offers top-notch, big-law-quality IP legal protections at rates that startups can afford. An adjunct professor at Chicago-Kent and president of the Chicago-Kent Alumni Board, Micheletti also employs Chicago-Kent alumni—in fact, Incubate IP is currently staffed solely with Chicago-Kent graduates.

As a bonus, you can also read about Chicago-Kent’s new dean, Jason Czarnezki. After turning a regional program into a national powerhouse, Czarnezki is ready to leverage Chicago-Kent’s strengths to navigate challenges in higher education. Czarnezki’s leadership emphasizes community-building and student success.

Chicago-Kent Magazine is the law school's premier alumni news source, and it is sent to its nearly 13,000 alumni.
