George Suh '18 receives a 2017 Korean American Bar Association Diversity Scholarship
George Suh, a third-year student at Chicago-Kent College of Law, is the recipient of a 2017 Korean American Bar Association Diversity Scholarship. The award recognizes service to the Korean community and commitment to public interest work.
George Suh earned a bachelor's degree with honors in political science from DePaul University. At Chicago-Kent, he is a co-founder and vice president of the Cyber Security and Data Privacy Society and volunteers with the Self-Help Web Center at the Daley Center. He is also community service coordinator for Chicago-Kent’s Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and the student liaison for the Korean American Bar Association.
During summer 2017, Suh was a legal intern at FirstNet—an independent authority within the U.S. Department of Commerce that develops, builds and operates the nationwide broadband network for first responders—through Chicago-Kent's Legal Externship Program. In spring 2017, he researched data protection and privacy laws as a legal extern for the global consulting firm Accenture PLC, also through the law school's externship program. In summer 2016, he was an extern for Chief Judge Lewis M. Nixon and Judge Freddrenna Lyle of the Circuit Court of Cook County through the law school's Judicial Externship Program. Currently, he is a clerk at the Acuna Law Offices and a data privacy legal research assistant for Professor Lori Andrews.
Established in 1993, the Korean American Bar Association of Chicago, a nonprofit professional organization of attorneys and law school students, provides a networking resource to its members and serves the community by hosting professional, educational, community and social events throughout the year. It also sponsors a free legal clinic in conjunction with Korean American Community Services.
