Heading to Nationals—Again

The Chicago-Kent College of Law Trial Advocacy Team is heading back to the National Trial Competition after dominating the Midwest Regional for the third year in a row. This marks the fourth year of the last five that Chicago-Kent students captured the regional title.

Ivylisse Ramirez ’27 and Isabella Courts ’27 will take on the other regional winners in Dallas in April.

At the regional competition that took place on January 31–February 1, Courts was named Best Advocate in the finals after a competition in which they had to argue both sides of a fictional case of felony murder during an armed robbery of a convenience store.

The National Trial Competition is sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers and administered by the Texas Young Lawyers Association. Nearly 1,000 law students compete in the competition annually.

Another Chicago-Kent team, last year’s regional winners Serena Napolitano ’26 and Gabriella Youash ’26, also competed and were eliminated in the finals.

The teams were coached by the director of Chicago-Kent’s trial advocacy program, Teaching Professor David A. Erickson, Warren Fasone ’18, and Natalie Adeeyo ’16.
