IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law announces Fall 2011 Speakers Series on Compliance in Financial Institutions
Sheldon Goldfarb, general counsel at RBS Americas and chief legal officer at Citizens Financial Group, will be the inaugural speaker in the Fall 2011 IIT Chicago-Kent Speakers Series on Compliance in Financial Institutions. Goldfarb will address the topic "Lawyers' Roles in the Financial Crisis: Lessons Learned." The program will be held September 19 at 6 p.m. in the law school's Governor Richard B. Ogilvie Auditorium, 565 West Adams Street (between Clinton and Jefferson streets) in Chicago.
"Our fall compliance lecture series is designed to address a variety of key legal issues and compliance problems lawyers and compliance personnel in financial institutions face," said IIT Chicago-Kent Professor Felice Batlan. "The fall series is especially exciting as it brings together leading experts in financial institutions to discuss the current state of financial regulation and the compliance function. It could not be more timely as the full implementation of Dodd-Frank is far from complete and the markets as well as financial institutions have not fully recovered from the Great Recession."
The Compliance Lecture Series is funded by a generous grant from the CME Group Foundation. The programs, which are free and open to the public, will begin at 6 p.m. in the Ogilvie Auditorium. This series is eligible for IL MCLE credit. Other programs in the fall series include:
