IIT Chicago-Kent students Jon Ellison and Anna Shvedchenko to compete in 20th annual National Health Law Moot Court Competition

Third-year IIT Chicago-Kent students Jon Ellison and Anna Shvedchenko will compete in the 20th annual National Health Law Moot Court Competition held November 4 and 5 at Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Law in Carbondale.

The competition, the only one in the nation devoted to health law, is co-sponsored by the SIU School of Law Center for Health Law and Policy, the SIU School of Medicine's Department of Medical Humanities, the American College of Legal Medicine, and the American College of Legal Medicine Foundation. Teams from IIT Chicago-Kent won the national championship in 1995 and 2008.

Team member Jon Ellison earned his undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University with a double major in sociology and political science, with an emphasis on public law. Teammate Anna Shvedchenko is a graduate of Loyola University-Chicago with majors in English, philosophy and political science.

IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law is the law school of Illinois Institute of Technology, a private, Ph.D.-granting institution with programs in engineering, science, psychology, architecture, business, design and law. In 2008 and 2009, IIT Chicago-Kent won the National Moot Court Competition, the largest appellate advocacy tournament in the United States.
