First-Year J.D. Students
The academic year for entering students officially begins with Orientation Week, with a full schedule of seminars, classes, and discussions. The first sessions of Criminal Law and Legal Research and Writing will be held during this week. Orientation is scheduled to begin in mid-August (date to be announced) for both day and evening division students. You will receive additional information about Orientation Week and the start of classes in May.
Class sections and professors for entering students are automatically assigned by the Office of Admissions. Your section assignment, course schedule, and registration information will be forwarded to you in late June.
We are pleased to offer an optional summer start for both day and evening division students that permits students to get a jump start on law school by taking Criminal Law during the summer term. Learn more.
Transfer J.D. Students
If you have not already done so, please schedule an appointment with Associate Dean Raff Donelson (rdonelson1@kentlaw.iit.edu) to evaluate possible transfer credits and plan your course schedule. After meeting with Dean Donelson, you will need to register online.
Registration information and course schedules for the upcoming semester are available in the term's Quick Guide, which is linked to the Current Students page. To register for classes, log in to your Illinois Tech Portal, and click this link. Additional information on the registration process is available online.
All new transfer students should also review the New Student Enrollment Guide (an updated link will be provided soon) and ensure that they complete the action items listed specifically for transfer students.
